E-commerce giant Amazon has announced it will open a new sorting centre in Melbourne - the first of its kind in Australia - enhancing delivery speed for customers in Victoria and around the country.
Construction of the 15,600 sqm sorting centre (nearly the size of the Melbourne Cricket Ground oval which is 17,720 sqm) has commenced in Craigieburn, generating more than 700 construction jobs.
Once finished, Amazon says the site at Goodman Group’s (ASX: GMG) Amaroo Business Park will create around 200 local jobs, ranging from entry level sorting positions, through to human resources and team leader jobs.
